Five important arguments for appointing a Data Protection Officer

Even if one does not know how to imagine data protection, but had certainly heard of the mandatory application of EU 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) entering into effect as of 25 May 2018. GDPR establishes new legal instruments and significantly transforms several elements of the data protection system. The detailed analysis of the changes goes beyond the limits of this article, but we intend to present the institution of Data Protection Officer (“DPO”) and how the DPO can protect his/her clients against a serious penalty or litigation procedure - not to mention the reputation-destroying negative events. Prior to this, we briefly describe the range of persons who may be affected by GDPR.
