September 2017 – Purchasing a Property in Hungary as a Foreign Citizen

A dozen Hungarian acts/decrees regulate the terms and the steps of the property purchasing procedure. One of the most important rule is Hungarian law requires that real estate purchases shall be concluded through private contract countersigned by an attorney-at-law or a public notary. Naturally, Hungarian citizens and Hungarian companies with foreign owners entitled to freely purchase residential property and properties for business purpose as well. Furthermore, foreign natural or legal persons may buy a property in Hungary with the permission of the regionally competent Government Office.
