Investing in a Medicinal Cannabis Canadian Corporation

In 2018, Canada legalized cannabis for both recreational and medicinal purposes and Uruguay had also already adopted such laws.

That’s why, in 2019, our Uruguayan and Canadian members joined their expertise and ingenuity to help an Uruguayan Corporation invest in a Canadian Corporation, both being involved in the highly regulated business of agricultural cultivation, manufacturing and export of medicinal cannabis. In addition to the investment operation itself, they had to face two main legal challenges: the quite new cannabis laws and regulations and the money laundering prevention in this new environment.
